Troubleshooting: If incoming calls does not ring
When someone calls this number ( connected to Linksys PAP2 device ) the phone ( connected to Linksys PAP2 device ) does not ring, although if you pick up the phone, the connection is working good and the sound is clear. When you call from this phone ( connected to PAP2 device ) to any phone, the people who receive your call can hear the ring.
Solution 1:
Check ON-OFF button of your phone ( the phone which connects to Linksys PAP2 device ) - Make sure it turns ON
If the phone set has a bad ring, replace by a good phone set.
Note: PAP2 is NOT working well with a digital phone since it may encounter some problems. It must be a analog phone to work good with the PAP2 device.
If you are using cordless phone - Not all cordless phones are quite compatible with VoIP, although many of them will work good for incoming calls and out coming calls but can not ring with incoming calls. Make sure to choose the one which works with Linksys PAP2 devices. All ANALOG CORDLESS PHONE models with 2.4 GHz to 5.8 GHz, 900 MHz should work good with VOIP services.
Solution 2:
If you are using ROUTER - check the ROUTER. The router which connects between ADSL (Modem/Jack/Filter...) and Linksys phone device must be working good.
ADSL(Modem/Jack/Filter) -->ROUTER--> LINKSYS PAP2-->PHONE
The router must be in good condition
Solution 3:
If you are using a router, you might need to do port forward. This issue is usually caused when the router doesn’t send the traffic back. It can be resolved by configuring your router to allow Internet access to the device, and to force a forwarding of any relevant data to it.
This is done by setting the router to route traffic in specific ports we use, to the unique IP address the device uses in your local network.
How to fix: all you to do is open the ports in the DSL router. In the DSL router, need to change forward port 80 to the PAP2 LAN IP which requires for the remote router to be remote configure enabled. No changes need to be made in the PAP2 Linsys Device
For full instructions please refer router’s Manual Guide or consult with its manufacturer. Instructions for specific routers can be found at .
Solution 4:
You might need to change Ring Waveform from Linksys device.
Change Ring Waveform from Sinusoid to trapezoid.
Log into Admin by typing the IP address into browser
Go to Advanced View
Click on REGIONAL tab
Select Trapezoid
(Change the Ring Waveform from Sinusoid to Trapezoid)
Change the Ring Frequency from 25 to 20 (20 is the true specification for North America).
Click Save and Exit
If issue still persists, increase the Ring Voltage to 90.
